The Contemporary Heroes Pass the Trial of the Crusader
10/19/2009 09:40 AM by Blaeys.

Northrend -- (October 19, 2009) – The Contemporary Heroes have completed The Trial of the Crusader (10 player), leaving Anub’arak, the boss that just won’t go away, lying dead atop permafrost and his many adds.

As with the death of KT earlier this year, there was no comment from the Lich King following the decimation of yet another of his chief lieutenants. It is rumored, however, that many of his forces have chosen to desert to Kalimdor (seeking political refuge with the pirates in Tanaris) rather than face The Heroes during the impending Icecrown Citadel assault.

Guild leadership once again credited the win to the entire team – even those guild members not there for the actual kill (many of whom support the team in other ways).

The Contemporary Heroes Take the Head of Onyxia
10/15/2009 09:24 AM by Blaeys.

Dustwallow Marsh -- (October 15, 2009) – Everything old is new again – and now she’s dead again. The Contemporary Heroes have killed Onyxia (10 player raid), the dragon responsible for countless player deaths dating back to 2004.

“While there was definitely a sense of déjà vu, this was not the Onyxia of our youth,” Justicar Bloomyvfd, the raid leader, explained. “The team once again proved the value of working together as we face our many enemies.”

Onyxia is, of course, a child of Deathwing, the dreaded dragon patriarch. Deathwing recently made the news himself, threatening some sort of cataclysmic event late next year. It is yet to be seen if the actions of The Heroes will postpone or hasten his plans.

Ten More Progression-Level Foes Fall to the Heroes in a Two Week Period
10/07/2009 04:40 PM by Blaeys.

Northrend -- (October 7, 2009) – As Auriaya fell in heroic (25 player) Ulduar the night of October 4th, she marked the tenth progression-level boss to meet its demise before The Contemporary Heroes in only two weeks. Accompanying the crazy cat lady on the list of recently deceased included Razorscale (25), XT-002 Deconstructor (25), Ignis the Furnace Master (25), Kologarn (25), Gormok the Impaler, the two jormungar Acidmaw and Dreadscale, Icehowl and Lord Jaraxxus.

Leadership credited the wins to the outstanding teamwork of guild members.

“It would be impossible to choose an MVP for any of these fights,” Firestaryvfd explained. “Even those members who were not there contributed through their continual support of the guild. We should all take a little credit for these victories – even as we prepare for the challenges ahead.”

The guild progression team is now looking forward to the next challenge, eager to add enemies such as Thorim (25) and The Faction Champions to the list of defeated foes.

These fights are a blast, and you're right, you really can't pick one MVP. These fights require coordination by DPS, or quick mobility and reaction by the tanks, or massive raid heals or 5 healers switching to the tank for a few second heals. The coordination of each grouping, and unique skills that everyone brings are all needed. It's challenging and a blast. It's also a nice reminder that while we're over geared and can overpower Naxx pretty easily, we're not overpowered for Ulduar and so skill still trumps gear.

Thorim... he'll have to wait as Hodir is going down tonight.

Malygos Defeated -- (story by Blaeys)
08/17/2009 01:44 PM by Bloomyvfd.

Malygos Is Dead

Northrend -- (August 15, 2009) – On August 15, the great dragon Malygos, known by many throughout the lands as “the last achievement I need for my title,” fell to The Contemporary Heroes.

The battle raged for many hours and seemed to be at a stalemate as The Heroes adjusted strategies and learned to work with the Red Dragonflight. Even as victory seemed distant, however, they refused to give up.

“The level of dedication shown by this small group gives us all hope and proves that the key to victory is persistence and keeping AFKs to a minimum,” Alexstrasza, the queen of the Red Dragonflight explained. “First, the destroyed Naxxramas and now the great Malygos is dead.”

Alexstrasza, who goes by Alex to her friends, recently took a moment to pose for a quick photo with The Contemporary Heroes.

It is rumored (unconfirmed) that, following the victory, many members of the raid were seen running through the various capital cities until the early morning hours boasting and showing off their new “Champion of the Frozen Wastes” title to anyone they happened to pass.
